HOME PAGE - ABOUT US
SPORTS PARTNERS is a sport marketing organisation that works with companies that sponsor sport, and individual participants (competitors) and/or events. We prefer the term 'partners' not sponsors, because supporters are often as passionate about sport, as the participants, and we prefer to view our partners as; 'team members'.
SPORTS PARTNERS is planning to launch our own professional sailing team in the challenging Extreme 40 Class that is attracting top sailors world-wide. The class has a European Series and an Asian Series already established. The return-on-investment (ROI) is very high, and the positioning in developing markets is attracting new financial partners to get involved, attracted by the dynamic presentation and glamorous image that these exciting sailboats and the racing circuit generate.
A BRIEF OVERVIEW
Between 2007/2009 iShares, part of Barclays Global Investors, worked as Title Partner with the OC Group to develop the Extreme Sailing Series. During this time the series was known as the iShares Cup that brought this testing form of sailing to testing venues all over Europe providing competitive, close-quarter racing, unique VIP hospitality experiences (including 5th man participation on the boats) a thrilling show for spectators – an all the while with great sporting and lifestyle stories delivered world-wide by the latest media and communications technology.
The series achieves the right balance between sporting credibility - to retain the best sailors in the sport; spectator entertainment; media return, and money cannot buy interactive VIP experience. The racing is short and sharp, close inshore, and recently a day of non-public racing has been added over longer traditional and more classic yacht racing courses to allow full VIP participation.
The Extreme 40 is a Class of sailing catamaran created by TornadoSport and designed by Yves Loday. 40 feet long and constructed of carbon fibre, the boats are moulded in an autoclave oven, like a Formula One racing car. The boats have a top speed of about 40 knots (~46 mph) and can sail at about 35 knots in 20-25 knots of wind. The first Extreme 40 was launched in 2005 and an original series of racing took place at the Volvo Round the Word Yacht Race, stop-over ports.
Extreme 40's are essentially a scaled up version of the Tornado sailboat formerly used in The Olympics. The Tornado was designed by Rodney March and was built originally by the late Reg White MBEs Company Sailcraft, based at Simon Collyer home town, Brightlingsea, Essex, UK. The concept of the Class was to develop a professional racing circuit with the events held very close to-shore frequently in restricted waterways like at Venice, Paris or Amsterdam.
More information will be available soon about 2011 events and partnership opportunities.
Our projects have been very diverse, but we personally have a great passion for competitive sailing, backed with knowledge and experience. We are particularly creative in our approach.
Some of our recent projects included; setting up a competition for Personal Assistants with top PA website paassist.com – the top 10 pairs of tickets went to winners, having the chance to attend the; David Beckham Academy – European Corporate Cup and the after event, celebrity party!
Following a request, we developed a competition prize for a major political party, a day of racing on Sir Keith Mills, Americas Cup Class (IACC) Yacht; Team Origin, at the Louis Vutton Trophy, a choice of venues was offered, Sardinia, or Auckland. The prize was bid for at the Parties - Election Year Fund Raising Dinner and attracted VERY high bidding.
